The MapleStory Classic World download is available through Nexon Launcher or Steam, with different official installation instructions for each route. Nexon Launcher selects a standalone Classic World client using a toggle under MapleStory, while Steam bundles MapleStory and Classic World. As of October 7, 2026, playing in Founder's Access requires an Orange Mushroom or Zakum package on the eligible account. Grand Launch is scheduled for October 21, so downloading the files and having access to the current phase are separate requirements.
01
Choose your route before installing
Nexon's official FAQ and October 6 release notes describe both installation routes. The Nexon Launcher instructions focus on preparing the launcher, signing in, and downloading the Classic World client when its option appears. The Steam instructions instead start from the existing MapleStory entry in your library. Following the instructions for your chosen route avoids treating the two downloads as identical.
| Installation route | Official download starting point | Client arrangement |
|---|---|---|
| Nexon Launcher | MapleStory library entry, then Classic World toggle | Standalone Classic World client |
| Steam | MapleStory in your Steam library | MapleStory and Classic World bundled |
The official Classic World website identifies the game and links its current access packages. Its platform answer confirms Windows and macOS through Nexon Launcher or Steam. This guide follows the written installation sequence captured from Nexon's FAQ rather than inventing a separate installer address. Pending confirmation (待确认): the saved material does not contain a complete operating-system-specific walkthrough for Mac.
02
Install through Nexon Launcher
The official Nexon Launcher sequence begins with downloading and installing the launcher from Nexon's website. You then sign in with your Nexon account and locate MapleStory in the library. Selecting the MapleStory Classic World toggle is the step that leads to the standalone Classic World client. The distinction matters because the ordinary MapleStory library entry is the starting point, not a statement that both games use one standalone installation.
- Download and install the official Nexon Launcher from Nexon's website.
- Sign in with the Nexon account you intend to use for Classic World.
- Locate MapleStory in the launcher library.
- Select the MapleStory Classic World toggle.
- Download the standalone Classic World client.
The captured pre-download wording says this toggle would not be available until Founder's Access launch day. That launch day was October 6, which has passed at this guide's October 7 evidence date. Read that restriction as the timing of the announced rollout, rather than a new future date. Pending confirmation (待确认): the saved sources do not establish the current button layout or visibility for every account and device.
03
Install through Steam
Nexon's Steam instructions say MapleStory and MapleStory Classic World are bundled together. They require both to be installed and recommend having MapleStory fully downloaded and updated before launch. The October 6 notes explain that this preparation reduces the required patch size when Founder's Access begins. They do not specify the download size, a storage minimum, or an exact patch duration.
- Open your Steam library and find MapleStory.
- Select Install and choose your preferred drive.
- Let the base download finish completely.
- Allow Steam to apply any pending updates.
- Link the intended Nexon account to your Steam profile as described below.
The pre-download FAQ also says the Classic World option becomes available on Founder's Access launch day. As of October 7, that announced date is already in the past. A Zakum package purchase through Steam grants the stated access through either Steam or Nexon Launcher. Buying that package does not change the official library installation instructions into a new download route.
04
Link Steam to the intended Nexon account
Nexon recommends linking accounts through the website before waiting for the game download to complete. Sign in to your Nexon account, open Account Settings, and link your Steam profile there. The FAQ describes this as the recommended web method. It gives you an account-linking step that can be completed independently of the base download.
The alternative begins after the Steam download finishes. Launch MapleStory through Steam and sign in with your Nexon credentials when prompted to confirm the account link. Both methods connect the Steam profile to a Nexon account used by the game service. Pending confirmation (待确认): the saved FAQ does not supply account-unlinking rules, a relinking procedure, or instructions for recovering a mistaken link.
05
Check access before expecting to play
Founder's Access began on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM PDT, equivalent to 18:00 UTC. The official package descriptions include this benefit with Orange Mushroom and Zakum, and explicitly exclude it from Snail. Access is linked to the account that purchased the eligible package. Nexon says no beta key is required to enter this phase with that access.
Steam offers only the Zakum package, while Nexon's website offers the package tiers and supported upgrades. Nexon-store Snail or Orange Mushroom purchases can be upgraded during the sales period by paying the price difference. The sale and upgrade deadline is October 14, 2026, at 11:59 PM PDT, and Steam upgrades are not available. These purchase rules explain access eligibility; they do not establish a fix for an installation or login error.
06
Understand what the account shares
MapleStory and MapleStory Classic World operate as one game service under a single account. The FAQ says account sanctions apply across both worlds, and switching games does not bypass a penalty. It also says only one of the two game applications can be open at a time. If you are moving between games, close the application already running before opening the other.
In-game names are specific to each game, and NX balance is shared between them. Maple Points purchased in MapleStory remain for MapleStory, and the FAQ says Classic World currently has no MVP status. Challenger World characters cannot transfer into Classic World because Challenger World belongs to MapleStory. These distinctions help explain why a linked account does not bring every feature from the other game into your Classic World installation.
07
Set controls and language after installing
The release notes provide Classic Style and Modern Style keyboard presets, with WASD movement in Modern Style. Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported, and the FAQ specifically names DualSense, DualShock, and Xbox controllers. Controller support must be enabled in Game Options, because the release notes say it is off by default. USB and Bluetooth connections are described by the FAQ after that support is enabled.
English is officially supported, and Spanish is currently in beta. Nexon says language can be changed at the main login screen or in Game Options, followed by relaunching the game. This relaunch instruction is part of language selection, rather than an extra client download. Other controller types are not officially supported in the FAQ, so their operation should not be treated as assured.
08
Keep missing specifications visible
Pending confirmation (待确认): the saved sources do not provide minimum macOS or Windows versions, processor requirements, RAM figures, or storage requirements. They also do not establish Intel versus Apple Silicon compatibility or a complete Mac installation sequence. Use the requirements shown by the current official installer or store when evaluating your own computer. The absence of those details here is an evidence gap, not proof that a particular device will work.
The official FAQ is the source for the client sequence, Steam linking, and account distinctions. The October 6 release notes repeat the installation preparation and explain input settings. The official package website confirms the supported platforms and eligible access tiers. This guide reflects saved evidence as of October 7, 2026, with Grand Launch still scheduled for October 21.
