Start MapleStory Classic World as a Beginner on Maple Island, then continue to Victoria Island for your first job advancement at Lv. 10. Crafting also becomes available at Lv. 10, citizenship at Lv. 12, and the Kerning City Party Quest at Lv. 21. As of October 7, 2026, the game is in Founder's Access, with Grand Launch scheduled for October 21. This guide explains those confirmed first steps and the account, control, and reward details that affect a new character.
01
Understand the current access period
Founder's Access began on October 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM PDT, equivalent to 18:00 UTC. Orange Mushroom and Zakum Packages include access; the Snail Package does not. Nexon's package page says access belongs to the purchasing account, and an eligible purchase does not require a beta key. Check which package your account actually owns before treating an installation or an old test invitation as permission to enter.
Grand Launch is scheduled for October 21 at 11:00 AM PDT, also 18:00 UTC. Progress made during Founder's Access carries into that launch, according to the official package page. This makes the current characters part of ongoing progression rather than a disposable practice run. The same page describes Classic World as early MapleStory with gameplay improvements, balance adjustments, and quality of life changes, so historical instructions need current-version confirmation.
02
Prepare the client and account
The Nexon Launcher instructions place Classic World inside the MapleStory library entry, where you select the Classic World toggle and download its standalone client. Steam bundles the two games and requires MapleStory and Classic World to be installed. The official FAQ recommends having the base game installed and updated and linking your Nexon account to Steam. These are different installation arrangements, even though both platforms can provide access to the same Classic World service.
For Steam linking, the FAQ offers two methods: use Account Settings on Nexon's website, or launch MapleStory through Steam and sign in when prompted. Windows and macOS play are confirmed in the release notes and package page. The official FAQ's macOS installation question has no accompanying answer, so detailed macOS installation steps remain Pending confirmation (待确认). The FAQ also says MapleStory and Classic World cannot be open simultaneously, which matters when trying to launch the second application.
03
Choose controls and language before exploring
Classic Style and Modern Style are the two announced default key-binding presets. Modern Style supports WASD movement, giving a new player a confirmed alternative to the classic layout. Controller support is disabled by default and must be enabled in Game Options. The FAQ supports USB or Bluetooth connections and specifically names DualSense, DualShock, and Xbox controllers; other controller types are not officially supported.
English is supported, while Spanish is in beta. You can change the language on the main login screen or in Game Options, then relaunch the game for the change. Pick a setup you can comfortably read and use before following NPC names or quest instructions. A missing translation or an unfamiliar controller behavior should not be treated as proof that a quest or system has a different requirement.
04
Begin on Maple Island
Every new character starts as a Beginner on Maple Island. Nexon describes this opening as the place to encounter the first monsters, complete quests, and learn the basics before traveling to Victoria Island. The current account limit is three characters, and deleting a character involves a waiting period. The notes do not give that waiting period's length, so a precise deletion countdown is Pending confirmation (待确认).
This opening establishes the region sequence, but it does not provide a complete Maple Island quest list or a portal route. Follow the current client's objectives when deciding where to go or which items to collect. If you own a Founder's Package, the official package page adds one relevant constraint: you must leave Maple Island before opening it. That condition concerns the package, rather than a published shortcut through the starting quests.
05
Find your first job instructor at Lv. 10
The current release notes give the same first-advancement level for all four starting jobs, including Magician. At Lv. 10, speak to the instructor associated with your chosen job and town. The confirmed contacts are listed below, and those same instructors handle the second advancement at Lv. 30. A job choice determines your advancement destination; it does not supply an official ranking of the easiest or strongest starting class.
| Starting job | Victoria Island town | Instructor | Second advancement at Lv. 30 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Perion | Dances with Balrog | Fighter, Page, Spearman |
| Magician | Ellinia | Grendel the Really Old | Wizard (Fire/Poison), Wizard (Ice/Lightning), Cleric |
| Bowman | Henesys | Athena Pierce | Hunter, Crossbowman |
| Thief | Kerning City | Dark Lord | Assassin, Bandit |
The current maximum character level is Lv. 100. A level cap describes the highest available character level, while the Lv. 10 and Lv. 30 requirements describe job milestones. Neither figure establishes how long leveling takes or where the fastest training maps are. Stat requirements, exact advancement objectives, and complete skill builds beyond this introduction remain Pending confirmation (待确认).
06
Recognize the next system unlocks
Crafting is available from Lv. 10 and uses collected materials to make items. Visit the crafting NPCs to view available items and their material requirements; continued crafting develops crafting skills and opens more recipes. Citizenship starts at Lv. 12, with Arthur in Henesys Town Hall and Roxy in Kerning City Civic Center as the announced contacts. Resident requests on each town's Community Board award Contribution toward a Citizenship grade.
At Lv. 21 and above, characters can participate in First Time Together, the Kerning City Party Quest. Nexon describes a cooperative activity involving puzzles, monsters, and King Slime. These unlocks can help you identify your next destination without pretending they form a tested leveling route. Full recipes, citizenship grade thresholds, and Party Quest stage solutions are Pending confirmation (待确认) in the current official overview.
07
Keep account currencies and cosmetics distinct
NX balance is shared between MapleStory and Classic World, but Maple Points purchased in MapleStory do not carry over. Classic World also has Leaf Points, which the FAQ describes as an alternative Cash currency. The FAQ identifies NX balance as the only shared item and says game-specific features are separate. It also confirms that Classic World currently has no MVP status, so modern MapleStory benefits are not a supported starting assumption here.
Founder's Package items are cosmetic and grant no stats or gameplay bonuses. They arrive automatically, and the mailbox claim deadline is November 30, 2026 at 23:59 UTC. Once claimed, the package has a 30-day opening period; outfit boxes also have their own duration and transfer rules. Read those item rules separately from crafting requirements, because an outfit's weapon-shaped appearance does not establish its usefulness as progression equipment.
08
Identify current activities and region limits
Founder's First Step runs from October 6 at 18:00 UTC through October 20 at 23:59 UTC. Characters at Lv. 10 and above accept its event quest from Maple Administrator, and rewards follow cumulative daily check-ins. Missing a day leaves the next reward in sequence, rather than advancing the counter to match the calendar. Rewards are claimable once per account for each check-in day, so having three characters does not mean three claims for that day.
Victoria Island is the announced main adventure region after Maple Island, but Forgotten Hollow is unavailable during Founder's Access. Nexon plans to add it later without giving an opening date in these notes. The current boss overview names Mano, Mushmom, Shade, Zombie Mushmom, and Jr. Balrog, but does not establish their spawn routes or combat strategies. Use the Founder's Access release notes as the boundary for these current systems and leave unavailable locations out of a present-day itinerary.
